HEART HEALTH VITAMIN C

As I get older the wrinkles are showing up and my skin seems a little
dryer. It takes up time to put lotion on and money for those "wrinkle"
lotions and potions.
So this tip is very helpful for me.
"A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people
who ate foods rich in Vitamin C had fewer wrinkles and less age related
dry skin than those who had a diet low in Vitamin C."
It is also very heart healthy, helping your arteries work efficiently
and not clog up so much. You know the old saying: "An apple a day keeps
the doctor away!"
If sugar is an issue you may not want to eat much fruit. Broccoli and
spinach are also rich in vitamin C as well as most dark green leafy
vegetables.

Spring into Spring

Hope everyone out there is having a successful "spring" get in shape
time.
I have made some magnets to remind everybody to eat what is good for
you.
You can purchase them for yourself or anybody that you think will
appreciate them.

For $2.00 including postage and tax.  it is a good motivator. Makes you think before you eat.
My goal is to raise money to help a friend's son that has a very rare form of Leukemia. The medical cost are astronomical so I want to help.

Thank you for your support.  Don't forget to check out the ads at the
to the left.

This week we have a healthy recipe.
Hummus is great for dipping vegetables and even spreading on a sandwich
instead of mayo or mustard. Give a great protein boost.
I use organic Garbanzo Beans and Organic Edamame
2 cups Garbanzo Beans
1 Cup Frozen Edamame (thawed)
1 tablespoon Tahani Paste
2 teaspoon lemon juice
Pepper or cayenne to taste
Put all above in food processor. Pulse until blended.  Stream in 2
Tablespoons Olive Oil and then add enough lukewarm water until your
desired consistency. (I usually use about 1/3 to 1/2 cup.)
Put in 1/2 cup containers so you can grab and go in the morning.  Makes
a great lunch or afternoon snack. This makes enough for 1 serving per
day for about 5-6 days.
Enjoy!!

Struggling

Ok, the last 10-11 pounds to go and I am having a struggle.  Up 1 down 2
up 2 down 1.

I have to make time to get on the treadmill every day.  That is easier
said than done.
Eating healthy has been going great.  With the weather warming up means
more salads.
The weight lifting, sit ups, pushups and stretching is going as
scheduled.  Just not the walking part.  The weather is still a little
cold for me to walk to far at lunch time, so the plan is to get on the
treadmill after work.

My busy season is starting soon. I am a vendor at our local Farmers Market www.poulsbofarmersmarket.org.  The last 4 years has been spent building a vermicomposting business part time to supplement my income when I retire www.3in1wormranch.com.  I have to get in shape for that also.  Lots of lifting
and toting.

This last week we had company for a few days. Eating out and
not exercising.

Just will have to do double time next week!!

Eat as Much Green as You Can

Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, watercress, kale and collard greens contain
sulforaphane.  This is an antioxidant that has been shown to speed up the detoxification of many harmful
chemicals from your body .A combination of spinach, kale and broccoli is the best.
For women these three vegetables are full of calcium and your body can absorb it faster and better than pills.
